Why Become A Member

Our membership program is one of our principle avenues to capture funding for our operating initiatives. APET is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization. Our current focus is on offering animals of Wood County, TX a second chance. The animal shelter takes in strays and owner surrendered cats and dogs. We do charge a surrender fee and also an adoption fee, but this doesn't cover the cost of the day-to-day care, spay/neuter and innoculation of the animals. We are almost always operating at full capacity for housing and vetting our shelter animals.

We have come so far, but there is much more work to be done! We would like to expand into responsible pet ownership education in local schools, work with city and county officials to address animal control issues (animal dumping is a major problem in the area), and continue to educate our citizens through public speaking engagements and participation in local events

Our animal shelter is open year round except holidays. In order to continue moving forward,  WE NEED your help...
